Optimize performance with good shock absorption

Created on during Ready for competition

Optimize your horse's performance
Both at competitions and in everyday riding, we want the horse to perform at its best. Training is naturally a large part of this, but the equipment also plays a huge role in the horse's work effort and overall performance. Imagine going for a long hike in shoes that are half a size too small, or with a backpack that sits crookedly – it will feel like an extra long walk and likely take more effort than if your gear fit properly. Therefore, we owe it to the horse to use equipment that fits correctly and sits comfortably.

Provide relief where needed
Just like humans, horses have different needs. One horse might do best with a specific type of girth, while another prefers a completely different style. For example, some horses are extra sensitive in the girth area and require a girth with extra padding, such as genuine or synthetic sheepskin. Others are sensitive in the back – this could be due to a previous injury, their specific conformation, or other factors.

Shock absorption for the rider
During riding, both the horse's and the rider's backs are subjected to a wide range of impacts up through the spine. Over time, this can be uncomfortable and stressful, potentially leading to back problems for both parties. With a saddle pad or half pad that effectively absorbs these shocks, you can protect and increase the longevity of both your own and your horse's back. A Matrix saddle pad is an excellent choice if you are looking for a pressure-distributing and shock-absorbing pad. You can select the specific pad that provides the right level of pressure distribution and shock absorption for your needs – read more about this on the Matrix page.

Sit better in sitting trot
Many riders benefit greatly from a shock-absorbing Matrix pad – even if they don't suffer from back pain. We often hear, particularly from riders of warmblood horses, that they find it easier to sit the trot, as the horse's large movement is cushioned by the pad's shock-absorbing effect. Ultimately, shock absorption is just as much about rider comfort, which becomes a massive bonus for the horse when the rider can sit more quietly and balanced in the saddle.
