Horsemanship Ropes

The long horsemanship rope extends your possibilities!

Horsemanship ropes are known for being longer than traditional pull ropes and often have a leather cord at the end. Horsemanship rope is typically 3.5 or 4.5 meters long, allowing you to get a little distance from your horse when training with it.

With its length, horsemanship the rope also allows you to tie it to the rope halter and use it as reins if you want to ride the horse in the rope halter. There are many types of horsemanship rope, for example, both with and without a carabiner - a horsemanship rope without a carabiner provides a more elegant transition between rope halter and rope and makes it easier to tie up the rope for reins.

Horsemanship rope is also known for having a different weight than the pull rope. The heaviness makes it feel good and stable in your hand, making it easy to work with and making your horse training a pleasure. Through both length and weight, you can send the right energy to the horse, giving the most accurate signals so that the horse has the best chance of understanding the task at hand.

Many use the long groundwork rope to swing with if the signal needs to be amplified. Others prefer to use a carrot stick. A carrot stick is shorter than the classic lunge whip and often has a detachable cord with a leather lace.

A leather cord - both the one often found at the end of the groundwork rope and on the carrot stick - provides a special swing that allows you to put the right energy into the signal to the horse. The art of horse training is to ask for enough - if you give too small a signal, the horse will overhear or misunderstand, and if you give too big a signal, it will overwhelm the horse and it risks losing faith in itself and in humans.
