Saddle Cloths and Pads

Find product » Saddle Cloths and Pads

When riding, your horse's back is heavily influenced by both saddle and rider. Therefore, it's important that you find a good saddle pad for your horse so that you can protect its back and hopefully prolong its life and avoid back pain. A saddle pad should also be both beautiful and elegant; it should follow the horse's movements and not curl.

You can provide a lot of comfort to your horse by finding a pressure-distributing saddle pad, as this avoids sore stress points in the saddle bed. Matrix has developed pads with both pressure distribution and shock absorption - and Matrix pads come in jumping pads, dressage pads and western pads. In addition, Matrix half pads are also available in a range of half pads that fit either the jumping or dressage saddle. The advantage of the Matrix Half Pad is that you can add pressure distribution and shock absorption to all your favorite pads.

Correction pads

Some saddles need extra support to fit properly on the individual horse - for example, a young horse that hasn't built the right muscles yet or an older horse that is starting to show swayback. With a correction pad, the horse can be helped in the best possible way. Correction pads from Matrix can be lifted at the front, middle and back with inserts that can be rotated to lift the saddle where the horse needs the most extra lift. The Shim Pad correction pads from Matrix still have both shock absorption and pressure distribution from the different inserts.

Pads with pressure distribution and shock absorption

Both horse and rider are exposed to many impacts during riding, which can be hard and tiring for both parties. By choosing a pad from Matrix, you get both shock absorption and pressure distribution - both of which protect the backs of both horse and rider. Matrix has developed different types of pads that provide different levels of pressure distribution and shock absorption, depending on what the rider needs.

The Extreme Pro-Impact insert consists of 13 mm Poron XRD, which provides the ultimate protection for your horse by absorbing 90% of the shocks that the horse is affected by under saddle. Poron XRD is designed to mold to the shape of the horse's back and therefore provides the best protection for bones and muscles - the material allows freedom of movement, but also has the technology for optimal protection.

The Ortho Impact pad is a combination of several materials that provide you and your horse with both protection and comfort during training. The Ortho pad consists of a 13 mm thick layer of visco-elastic foam, which is comparable to the well-known memory foam. This layer molds to the shape of the horse's back and corrects any asymmetry in the horse. Along with this layer is a very thin layer of Poron XRD, which has been developed to provide your horse with 90% shock absorption, thus helping to protect your horse during daily work. The Ortho insert offers maximum padding and cushioning without hindering your horse's movements.

The FlexForm pad works for all types of training. The material is a 13 mm thick visco-elastic foam - a lightweight memory foam that acts as extra padding for the horse's back, provides stability for saddle and rider, and has a moderate shock-absorbing effect. Memory foam is an ideal choice for improving saddle fit, if you are an extra sensitive horse or just want to give your horse a little more comfort while riding.

The Pro Impact insert is an ultra-light, thin layer of XDR that provides ultimate protection by absorbing 90% of the impact. XRD is a soft material that molds to the shape of the horse's back and acts as a flexible shield against the impact forces the horse is subjected to.

Breathable and sweat-wicking material

A lot of moisture develops under the saddle and underlay when you ride, because with a saddle and rider on your back, the conditions are not very good for the horse to get rid of heat and moisture. It is therefore important to have breathable and sweat-wicking material. If you have a sensitive horse, the saddle pad can be a place where you can help the horse a lot, as the horse experiences a lot of impact from the saddle and rider. A good choice for the horse with sensitive skin can be a saddle pad with lambskin or Cool Back. Cool Back is made from orthopaedic fleece, which is gentle on the horse's skin and provides extra pressure distribution, as well as being sweat-wicking and breathable.
