Combination bites

Myler's Combination Bit has become a popular item - and for good reason! The combination bit has several features that work well for many horses. The bit is especially popular among show jumping, eventing and endurance riders.

What makes the combination bit special is that it has a noseband and chin/jaw strap that applies pressure that the horse is familiar with from the halter.

When you make contact with the rein, these pressure points are the first to be affected - on the bridge of the nose, under the chin and in the neck. If the horse does not yield to this pressure, the mouthpiece will signal in the horse's mouth.

The bit is equipped with a stop block, so initially the horse's mouth will only be minimally affected - if the horse does not yield to the pressure here, the block will activate the mouthpiece and put a larger signal in the horse's mouth.

In short, this means that the horse's mouth is the last thing to be affected when the rider takes the rein.

Myler Combination bits are available with a number of different mouthpieces and with either two or three rings. The most popular combination bit is the one pictured - the Level 2 MB04 with three rings, but it's always a good idea to seek advice if you're in any doubt about a new bit for your horse!
