Myler Monday - Independent Side Movement

One of the unique features of the Myler bits is that many of the mouthpieces have a feature called "Indepent Side Movement", which in short means that the sides of the mouthpiece can move independently of each other.

It is the cylinder in the middle of the Myler bit that provides the independent movement of each side of the mouthpiece, and it gives you completely new possibilities if you have not tried riding with it before.

The advantages of Independent Side Movement (ISM) are several.

• It allows the bit to remain stable in the horse's mouth, similar to a completely fixed mouthpiece - but with the mobility of ISM.
• Activating one rein will only affect one side of the bit, giving a clear signal to the horse and increasing your degree of shoulder control, for example, when the horse is being put down.
• The fact that the bit only moves to one side when one rein is activated also means that the bit remains still in the horse's mouth while riding - the bit only moves when the rein is activated, so you can give the horse a lot of peace and release when it has performed a task correctly.
