Rikke Ruus - Driving sports

Rikke introduces herself:
My name is Rikke Ruus and I am 17 years old.
I have been involved with horses for 12 years now and still love it just as much.
I started out riding Icelandic horses and then started riding dressage and jumping. 2 years ago I was introduced to the sport of driving and it has been my passion ever since. I fell in love with it right away and knew it was what I wanted to do.

I started from scratch. I knew nothing and there were a lot of things to learn, but once I set out to learn something, I don't give up. Found my first driving pony (Rafu). Found some great trainers and fought every day to get better. It paid off in the end.

In May 2021, I started my first national event and got a 2nd place and then it just went fast. I attended more and more national events, and then started DM and NM in July 2021. There I won Marathon and cones at DM, and ended up with an overall silver medal. In NM I got a 4th place in Marathon. Then I was chosen to be on the Danish team for the European Championships in August 2021. So we went to France and it went beyond all expectations.

Now I have a strong team, a lot of support, and a lot of nice placements. In addition, I have bought a new driving pony. I'm aiming for the European Championships 2024 and a top-5 placement.

The most important thing is that my ponies are doing well and have the best equipment to help them. Therefore, it is very nice to have such a loyal sponsor like Riding Equitment.
