Safety is not just about helmets and safety vests
Even before we get on a horse, we need to be aware of safety. The horse is a large animal, and as it is also a flight animal, situations can become serious and dangerous if it gets spooked and wants to run away. It can escalate violently and end up with jumping halters and loose horses if the horse gets spooked and tries to break free while tied up in the stable aisle. That's why safety starts with the way we tie the horse.

Tie yourhorse safely
With a safe tying system - e.g. The Clip or the Blocker Tie Ring - you can largely avoid these violent and dangerous situations. The tie-up systems are designed so that the rope will slip if the horse pulls hard enough - for example, when it gets spooked. If the rope doesn't slide, the feeling of being stuck can make the horse even more frightened, causing it to become more violent; however, when the rope slides in the tethering system, the horse will not feel fixed and panic will not be exacerbated. Of course, it's important that the rope is long enough so that the horse doesn't just pull the entire rope through the tying system.

Horse neck injuries
When a panicked horse pulls on an unyielding rope, the halter will typically snap. It takes a lot of force for a halter to snap, and this force can cause major injuries to the horse's neck. Tying in a secure system protects the horse from neck injuries and is an easy way to increase the horse's durability.

The horse willnot learn to pull free
Some people think that with these systems the horse will learn to pull backwards and pull free - this is not the case. The rope must be attached enough that the horse can't simply pull it out by shaking its head or looking to the side, or it will quickly learn how to do so. The Clip is fitted with a screw so you can adjust how tightly the rope slides depending on which horse is tied - the young and inexperienced horse needs a rope that slides more easily so it doesn't get spooked by resistance; the experienced horse can be tied with a rope that slides tighter.

Trailer training, hay nets and trailer driving
The secure tie-down systems can be used anywhere the horse is tied, so you can use them in the trailer as well. Again, it will help the horse if it finds itself "hanging from the halter" when in the trailer. You can also use The Clip to tie up the chicken (both in the trailer and in the box), where the horse can get stuck and then we have a really dangerous situation if we can't get the chicken down.

Benefits:
  • Secure ties are a great advantage for young and inexperienced horses learning to stand tied - both in the barn and in the trailer.
  • You protect the horse from neck injuries, as it is less likely to get "caught" in the halter.
  • The Clip and Blocker Tie Ring do not escalate violent and dangerous situations, as the horse does not feel restrained if the rope is fitted correctly.
