Is your horse sensitive to the sun and easily sunburned on the muzzle?

Some horses are extra sensitive to the sun's rays and are particularly prone to sunburn on the muzzle, where the skin is delicate and pink. This can be both annoying and painful for horses who want to enjoy the Danish summer in the paddock. Fortunately, there are several ways to protect the muzzle and avoid sunburn.

Often it's the horses with a long blaze that have a pink muzzle that have trouble tolerating the sun's rays. Even if yours doesn't have a pink and sunburned muzzle, it may still need UV protection in its fly mask. Some horses - especially light-colored horses - have very thin fur on their heads and especially around the eyes, and for them, UV block makes sense.

Absorbine Fly mask with UV protection

Absorbine has developed an Ultrashield fly mask that effectively blocks up to 80% of UV rays from the sun. You can shield your horse with this insect mask and prevent sunburn and sore muzzles. Ultrashield fly masks are available in a variety of models - if your horse has problems with sunburn on the muzzle, you can choose a fly mask with a removable nose flap. On cloudy or rainy days, the nose protector can be removed while still protecting the eyes from insects.

Professional's Choice sunscreen for horses

With Professional's Choice Mug Balm, you can give your horse extra protection from the sun's rays. Developed for horses, Mug Balm blocks 70% of the sun's harmful UV rays and can also provide a protective layer against pesky insects. Mug Balm sunscreen for horses is ideal for use on the horse's muzzle, which is sensitive to the sun. The cream has an oily consistency, which means it lasts well - even if the horse grazes all day or scratches its friends.

Mug Balm contains peppermint oil, citronella oil, cedarwood oil, eucalyptus oil and thistle oil, among others, and therefore has a pleasant summer scent.
