Behind the Champion

Champion has a solid background when it comes to safety, as the brand has been one of the driving forces behind the development of safe riding helmets for more than 40 years. Over all that time, design and technology have been refined and improved to ensure that Champion products meet the latest safety knowledge. For example, Champion has launched a range of riding helmets with MIPS functionality. MIPS mitigates rotation in a fall or crash with the horse and therefore minimizes your risk of getting a concussion.

The Champion riding helmet is thoroughly tested!

When a Champion riding helmet is manufactured, it undergoes a series of rigorous tests and therefore meets the highest safety standards in the industry. Champion was the first brand to manufacture riding helmets to the British PAS015 standard over 20 years ago; the helmets are also British Standard Institute (BSI) Kitemark approved, not to mention VG1 approved.

When a Champion riding helmet is tested, it undergoes four different tests: penetration, shock absorption, strap strength and pressure testing. On average, one Champion helmet is independently tested every day by the British Standard Institute to ensure that Champion helmets meet the standards at all times and can retain the PAS015 mark.

Champion TI22 safety vest

A safety vest protects the rider's back, ribs, shoulders and neck in the event of a fall or crash with a horse. There are two main types of safety vests - the hard shell and the airbag vest, which inflates when the cartridge is triggered during a fall or crash. Champion manufactures the classic hard jumping vest - but Champion's TI22 safety vest is produced in a very special way that provides extra comfort and freedom of movement.

Riding helmets with MIPS

The smart MIPS system protects the user from concussions in falls and crashes. The system works by placing a low-friction layer inside the helmet, which allows the helmet to rotate in relation to the head - without being twisted and losing protection. The ability to rotate means that the rotational movement is mitigated in the helmet and therefore has little or no effect on the head and brain. This means that you as a rider minimize or avoid the risk of concussion. The MIPS system is a benefit for everyone, but especially a good idea if you ride young horses, are a show jumper, military rider or distance rider.
